
On July 31, 2025, at about 3:30 PM in Baclaran, Paraรฑaque City, operatives of the Southern District Anti-Cybercrime Team (SDACT) conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 29-year-old man, alias “Kevin,” for extorting a woman through a social media platform.
“Kevin” is facing charges for violation of Article 294 (Robbery with Intimidation of Persons) of the Revised Penal Code (RPC), in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
Following his arrest, it was discovered on August 1, 2025, that the suspect had an existing warrant of arrest for violation of Article 248 (Murder) of the RPC. The warrant was immediately served by the SDACT.
Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, lauded the team for the significant arrest. โThis shows the importance of our cyber operations in uncovering and apprehending individuals wanted for serious crimes. We urge the public to remain vigilant and report cyber offenses so we can continue pursuing justice,โ he said.
