On July 24, 2025, at about 11:30 AM in Cauayan City, Isabela, operatives of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 2 conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 34-year-old woman, alias “Rita,” for the illegal online sale of registered Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards.

“Rita” is facing charges for violation of RA No. 11934 (SIM Registration Act of 2022) in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the operatives for the successful operation. He also encouraged the public, stating, “Refrain from engaging in selling and buying registered SIM cards, as it carries legal consequences. Help us combat cybercrimes by reporting such offenses to the nearest ACG office.”
