On August 6, 2025, at about 4:30 PM in San Juan, Abra, operatives of the Mountain Province Provincial Cyber Response Team arrested a 23-year-old woman, alias “Jean,” pursuant to a warrant of arrest.

“Jean” is facing charges for violation of Article 355 (Libel) of the Revised Penal Code in relation to Section 4(c)4 (Libel) of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), with bail set at Php10,000.00.

Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the unit for the successful operation. He also emphasized the responsibility of individuals in using digital platforms. “Online libel is a criminal offense. We will continue to hold offenders accountable under the law,” he said.
