On August 9, 2025, at about 2:30 PM in Masbate City, operatives of the Masbate Provincial Cyber Response Team arrested a 38-year-old woman, alias “Awra,” pursuant to a warrant of arrest.

“Awra” is facing charges for violation of Section 4(c)4 (Libel) of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act), with bail set at Php10,000.00.

Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the unit for the successful operation. He also emphasized, “Freedom of expression comes with responsibility. Using the internet to spread false or malicious statements against others is a crime, and the PNP ACG will hold violators accountable.”
