
On August 8, 2025, at about 1:00 PM in General Santos City, a 21-year-old woman, alias “Zele,” effected the warrantless arrest of a 23-year-old woman, alias “Eva,” pursuant to Section 5, Rule 113 of the Rules of Criminal Procedure, and turned her over to the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 12 for inquest proceedings.
“Eva” is facing charges for violation of Section 4(b)3 (Computer-Related Identity Theft) of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, lauded the operatives for the swift action. He also reminded the public, stating, βIdentity theft violates a personβs right to privacy and security. Using someone elseβs personal information without permission is a crime, and the PNP ACG will continue to hold offenders accountable.β
