On May 19, 2025, at about 3:30 PM, operatives of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit – Bangsamoro Autonomous Region (RACU BAR) conducted an entrapment operation in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao Del Norte that led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man, alias “Potot,” for threatening and harassing his ex-girlfriend using explicit videos.
The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by a 36-year-old female Overseas Filipino worker (OFW), alias “Mika,” who had been in an online relationship with the suspect for two years. During this period, they engaged in video calls, including times when the victim was bathing. Without her knowledge or consent, the suspect secretly recorded these calls.
After their relationship ended, the suspect used the videos to blackmail the victim, threatening to send them to her family unless she complied with his demands. He later coerced her into meeting him, warning he would distribute the videos if she refused. With the assistance of RACU BAR, victim agreed to the meeting, which led to the suspect’s arrest. “Potot” is facing charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, RA No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009), and RA No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004), all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
