On May 20, 2025, at about 11:00 AM, operatives of the Bohol Provincial Cyber Response Team (Bohol PCRT) conducted an entrapment operation in Tagbilaran City, Bohol that led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man, alias “Oishi,” for sextortion.
The operation arose from a complaint filed by a 21-year-old woman, alias “Pichie,” who was in a relationship with the suspect for three years. During the relationship, they shared intimate moments together, wherein Oishi recorded their sexual actions. Their relationship ended in 2024 due to Oishi’s abusive behavior.
Months after the breakup, Oishi contacted Pichie again and asked for reconciliation, which she refused. In response, Oishi began threatening her with their explicit videos. He first sent a screenshot of one of the videos to victim’s cousin and threatened to send the full video to her family and friends if she continued to reject him. Oishi then coerced the victim into meeting him at a hotel for sexual activity, threatening to follow through on his threats if she would not comply.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
The operation supports the directive of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the PNP, to enhance proactive and reactive measures against cybercrime and to safeguard the public in the digital environment. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the Bohol PCRT for their swift response in arresting the suspect. “This operation reflects our efforts to eliminate cybercriminals, especially on social media platforms. We encourage the public to report any cyber-related crimes to any ACG office nationwide so we can act promptly and create a safer digital environment,” he said.
