In response to the alarming reports of cybercriminals posing as dentists and offering unauthorized dental services online, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has intensified its efforts to combat these illegal activities.
In May 2025 alone, the PNP ACG conducted ten entrapment operations nationwide, resulting in the arrest of twelve individuals who were involved in the unauthorized practice of dentistry without the necessary professional licenses or credentials.
These operations stemmed from proactive cyber patrolling where operatives identified advertisements for unlicensed dental services on online platforms. All efforts were conducted in close coordination with the Philippine Dental Association and the Professional Regulation Commission.
This marks a significant increase in enforcement activity, as no similar operations were recorded during the same period in the previous year.
The operation aligns with the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, Chief of the PNP, to continue reinforcing proactive and reactive measures in the fight against cybercrime and ensure public safety in the digital space.
Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the personnel for the successful operations and warned the public of the dangers posed by unlicensed dental practitioners. “These fake dentists offering services without licenses can cause serious health risks, including infections, complications, and long-term dental damage. If you know anyone offering unauthorized dental services, report it immediately to the nearest PNP ACG office for appropriate action,” he said.
