On June 20, 2025, at 8:16 PM in Kawit, Cavite, operatives of the Quezon City District Anti-Cybercrime Team (QCDACT) conducted a hot pursuit operation that led to the arrest of a 27-year-old man, alias “Bagsik,” for allegedly hacking a courier service driver’s account and diverting high-value parcels worth approximately Php15 Million into his possession.
The arrest stemmed from a complaint filed by a 53-year-old businessman, alias “Eric,” regarding a hacking incident involving a courier service. According to Eric, he booked a delivery through a courier platform for high-value tech security products, but the parcel never reached its destination.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the delivery account used for the booking had been illegally accessed by the suspect, who rerouted the parcel to his own location.
Further escalating the crime, “Bagsik” demanded Php55,000.00 from the victim in exchange for the return of the diverted parcel.
QCDACT operatives were able to locate the suspect’s address, which led to the recovery of several stolen parcels, amounting to Php15 Million which represented only about 60% of the stolen goods.
“Bagsik” is facing charges for violations of Article 294 (Robbery with Intimidation of Persons) and Article 310 (Qualified Theft) of the Revised Penal Code, PD 1689 (Syndicated Estafa), and Section 5(d) of RA No. 12010 (Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act (AFASA), all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
The operation is in line with the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, Chief of the PNP, to take immediate legal action to ensure that cybercriminals are held accountable.
Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), commended the team for their relentless pursuit of justice. He also stated, “This operation reflects the diligent effort of the PNP ACG to go after law offenders who try to use online platforms to perpetuate cybercrime. We will ensure that these cybercriminals face their day in court.”
