On July 20, 2025, at around 11:55 PM in Bicutan, Taguig City, operatives of the Southern District Anti-Cybercrime Team (SDACT) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man, alias “Kian,” for the illegal online sale of SMS blaster devices.

The operation stemmed from proactive cyber patrolling by SDACT, during which operatives discovered a Facebook group post by the suspect offering text blaster machines for Php25,000.00 per unit.

Initial investigation revealed that the suspect was engaged in buy-and-sell activities. He claimed that the devices were part of a bundle of personal computers he had purchased online from a seller who alleged that the machines were pulled out from a defunct Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO). During the operation, operatives confiscated 11 units of GSM Modem Pool (SMS Blaster Machines) from the suspect.

“Kian” is facing charges for violation of Act No. 3846 (Philippine Radio Control Law), as amended by RA No. 584, in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

This operation aligns with the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, Chief of the PNP, to strengthen cyber patrolling, suppress cybercrimes, and ensure public safety in the digital environment.

Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang. Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the team for the successful arrest. “This operation reflects our continued commitment to protecting the public from cybercriminals who exploit technology for illegal activities. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious online transactions to authorities to help prevent cyber-enabled crimes,” he said.
