
On August 4, 2025, at about 9:05 AM in Santo Domingo, Nueva Ecija, operatives of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Cyber Response Team conducted an entrapment operation that resulted in the custody of a 17-year-old male, alias โBuloy,โ for the illegal online sale of crested myna birds.
“Buloy” is facing charges for violation of Section 27 of RA No. 9147 (Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001) in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
The minor was turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office of Santo Domingo for proper intervention. Meanwhile, the two rescued crested myna birds were handed over to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Cabanatuan City for appropriate care and custody.
Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the operatives for their swift action. โThe online trade of wildlife, especially involving minors, is a serious concern. These acts are regulated by law to protect our biodiversity. We remind the public not to engage in such illegal transactions and to report any suspected wildlife trafficking to authorities,โ he said.
