On August 6, 2025, at about 9:50 AM in Cauayan City, Isabela, operatives of the Santiago City Cyber Response Team conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 25-year-old woman, alias “Girly,” for the illegal online sale of registered Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards.

“Girly” is facing charges for violation of RA No. 11934 (SIM Registration Act of 2022) in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the operatives for the successful operation. He also encouraged the public, stating, β€œThe illegal sale of registered SIM cards undermines our efforts to trace and prevent cybercrimes. These cards often end up in the hands of scammers and fraudsters. We call on the public to support the enforcement of the SIM Registration Act by refusing to participate in these illegal activities and reporting violators to the nearest ACG office.”
