On May 29, 2025, at about 5:00 PM, operatives of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 2 (RACU 2) conducted an entrapment operation in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan that led to the arrest of a 30-year-old man, alias “Joaquin,” for threatening and harassing his former partner using their explicit videos.

The operation was initiated following a complaint filed by a 21-year-old male student, alias “Timmy,” at the RACU 2 Office. According to the victim, he was previously in an intimate relationship with the suspect. During their relationship, they engaged in sexual video calls, unaware that “Joaquin” was secretly recording it.

On May 21, 2025, driven by extreme jealousy, “Joaquin” allegedly sent one of the explicit videos to the victim’s mother through Messenger and demanded money. He further threatened to publicly release more of their videos unless his demands were met.

Fearing the consequences, the victim’s mother was compelled to send Php6,000.00 to the suspect. However, a few days later, “Joaquin” demanded an additional Php7,000.00 and insisted on meeting with the victim in person to stop the distribution of the videos. This led to the entrapment operation, leading in the suspect’s arrest.

“Joaquin” is facing charges for violations of Article 294 (Robbery with Intimidation against Person) of the Revised Penal Code, and RA No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009), both in relation to RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended RACU 2 for the successful operation. He also stated, “The PNP ACG is dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for online abuse are held accountable. We encourage the public to report such crimes and cooperate with us to protect individuals from such acts.”
