On July 16, 2025, at 8:21 PM in Sta. Cruz, Manila, the operatives of the Manila District Anti-Cybercrime Team (MDACT) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 46-year-old construction worker, alias “Banoy,” for coercing his female co-parent-in-law (Balae) using explicit photos and videos.
The operation stemmed from a complaint filed by the victim, a 57-year-old woman. According to her, she met the suspect when he became her daughter’s father-in-law. They eventually entered into a romantic relationship. During their time together, they recorded their intimate activities.
When the victim ended the affair due to the suspect’s abusive behavior, he began threatening to spread their explicit videos on social media if she would leave him. On multiple occasions, he posted her nude photos on social media whenever she failed to follow his demands.
On July 15, 2025, the victim received threatening messages from the suspect, warning her that he would distribute her explicit photos and video unless she agreed to meet him in person. Despite her pleas, the threats continued, prompting the victim to seek police assistance.
“Banoy” is facing charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code and RA No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism of 2009), both in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
This operation supports the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, Chief of the PNP, to ensure that anti-cybercrime laws are fully implemented and violators are promptly penalized. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended MDACT for the successful operation. He also stated, “The PNP ACG is dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for online abuse are held accountable. We encourage the public to report such crimes and cooperate with us to protect individuals from such acts.”
