The PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) has achieved a significant milestone in its ongoing campaign against cybercrime, securing thirteen convictions in cases filed in the first five months of 2025.
The cases stemmed from a series of cyber patrolling efforts and entrapment operations targeting illegal online activities across social media platforms.
Among those convicted: one was charged for violation of Article 294 (Robbery with Intimidation of Person) of the Revised Penal Code; four were charged for violation of RA No. 11934 (SIM Registration Act of 2022), two for RA No. 7392 (Philippine Midwifery Act of 1992), one for RA No. 9175 (Chain Saw Act of 2002), and five for RA No. 12010 (Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act or AFASA of 2024), all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, lauded all the implementing units for the convictions of suspects arrested by the Group. “These convictions send a strong message to cybercriminals that justice will be served. We are ensuring that those who exploit the digital space for illegal activities are held accountable,” he said.
