The Cybercops of the Philippine National Police arrested a couple in Pasig City after receiving money from a money transfer Pasig City yesterday at 8:00 PM, January 23, 2017.
Based on the report submitted by PSSUPT MARNI C MARCOS JR, the Acting Director of PNP ACG to the Chief PNP, Police Director General RONALD “BATO” DELA ROSA, the couple was identified as EDLYN BAAL y BELTRAN, 36 years old, married, housemaid and her live-in partner identified as one JESTONY MORSE y ELEJORDE, 28 years old, construction worker.
The entrapment operation stemmed from a complaint of @ Ynez against unidentified suspect who threatened her to upload her nude photographs in social media if she will not give Php 10,000.00. The victim filed a complaint on January 22, 2017 at PNP ACG in Camp Crame Quezon City regarding the case.
According to the official, the victim logged-in to a dating site called OK CUPID where he met a man looking for relationship. They exchange mobile phone numbers online and started sending intimate messages. The victim was lured in sending nude pictures believing that they are already into a relationship. She (the victim) learned that the man she chatted was fake she started not to communicate with him. The suspect then threatened the victim to upload her photographs.
PSSUPT MARCOS averred that the suspect extorted the victim amounting to Php 20,000.00 in exchange for not uploading her pictures that prompted the victim to seek the assistance of PNP ACG.
PSSUPT MARNI MARCOS JR immediately instructed a team led by PCINSP ARMIE S AGBUYA to conduct entrapment operation at No. 1070 Sitio Kumunoy, Brgy., San Miguel, Pasig City in coordination with Pasig Police Station. After more than 2 hours of police operation the suspects were arrested and brought to PNP ACG, Camp Crame, Quezon City for documentation.
The items confiscated on the suspects were One (1) Samsung Cellular Phone and Extortion money amounting to Four Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy Pesos (Php 4,870).
The suspects will be charged for violation of Art. 294 of RPC (Robbery with Violence Against or Intimidation of Persons) pursuant to Sec 6 of RA 10175, Art 288 of RPC (Grave Coercion) pursuant to Sec 6 of RA 10175 and RA 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) before the Prosecutors Office, Department of Justice, Manila.
