PNP CYBERCOPS ARRESTED A GRAPHIC ARTIST IN QUEZON CITY
A graphic artist was arrested by PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) in an Apartelle in Cubao, Quezon City for threatening a female @Jenina for a sexual intercourse in exchange for not uploading and sharing her nude photographs to her friends and families on the Internet.
According to PSSUPT MARNI C MARCOS JR, the Acting Director of PNP ACG, the complainant filed a complaint in their office in Camp Crame, Quezon City on January 31, 2017, that a certain Adrian Grosu sent a message to the victim for a sexual intercourse for not uploading her pictures on the Internet and the victim immediately blocked the Facebook account of Adrian Grosu.
The victim told the investigator that the suspect was one of the members of their group chat on Facebook and he (Suspect) was able to download her nude pictures. The suspect then started to threaten the victim and he was able to send pictures of the victim to her mother who is working abroad.
Upon learning on the incident, PSSUPT MARNI MARCOS JR immediately instructed the Women and Children Protection to conduct entrapment operation at about 5:45 PM on February 1, 2017 that resulted in the arrest of REGINO CASARENO ECHAS. Based on the information gathered by the investigator, Regino Echas, 24 years old, is a graphic artist and residing in Caloocan City.
According to @Jenina, she opened her Facebook account and received a message from another Facebook account “David Garcia” and threatened the complainant that if she ignores him, he will share or exhibit her nude photos to her mother and other friends. The suspect sent through private message eleven (11) photographs of the complainant (nude and with undergarment) to prove that the suspect has in his possession of the photographs and demanded for sexual favor. The complainant immediately blocked the Facebook account “David Garcia” to refrain from receiving messages from the suspect’s Facebook account.
On February 1, 2017 at about 8:30 AM, the complainant informed the investigator that the suspect agreed to meet the complainant at Five Star Bus Terminal in Cubao, Quezon City at about 5:00 PM of the same date. An entrapment operation was immediately planned and the suspect was arrested. Recovered from the possession of the suspect were Cellular phones, external hard drive, government ID cards, receipts and condom.
The suspect will be charge for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) in relation to Section 6, R.A. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012) and R.A. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009) before the City Prosecutor’s Office in Quezon City.
PSSUPT MARCOS would like to inform the Netizens not to trust online strangers because they are considered as predators who are waiting for their preys. These online strangers are keeping on inviting friends online through Facebook, dating sites, Twitter, blogs, and other social media sites. Do not accept invitations from unknown persons online because it might capture your personal data, pictures, bank information, and other personal records, the official further stressed.
