According to PLTCOL GUILLERMO, numerous reports/complaints about Lending Apps harassing the borrower after failing to pay on time prompted them to build a case against the company owned by the arrested Chinese national. "After obtaining the WSSECD from the court, we immediately put it into effect before they can victimize more of our kababayans. The urgency is at stake knowing its nature and appeal where Filipinos can be baited easily", he added.

According to PBGEN RODRIGUEZ, the company of the arrested Chinese National, Cash Trees Lending Corp, has several lending apps under its wing, based on the Case Operational Plan submitted to him. Happylend, Rush Loan, Easy Money, Good Pocket, Lucky Star, Swipe Cash, 365 Cash, Mega Loan, Treecash, and Goldpeso are a few examples.

These Lending/Loan Apps do not have a Certificate of Authority, according to the Enforcement and Investor Protection Department of the Securities and Exchange Commission, who were present during the implementation of the WSSECD. He continued.

“The tactics of the loan app scam entices victims to download a mobile application in which they accept to the loan's terms and conditions and grant the creditor access to their contacts, cameras, and Facebook connections. I remind the public, to be cautious, and to take measures before engaging in online transactions to avoid being victims of online fraud.” PBGEN RODRIGUEZ reiterated.
