The PNP ACG will file a complaint against the operators of personal text messages for violations under RA No. 10173 (Data Privacy Act) in relation to RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act) based on the evidence gathered during their investigation, according to PBGEN JOEL B DORIA.

Series of coordination were made between the National Privacy Commission, TELCOs, PNP ACG, and other stakeholders on the recent cases of smishing messages containing user’s names. With the collaboration, cooperation, and coordination with the TELCOs, NPC, and other stakeholders we can fast track the investigation, file the necessary disclosure warrant to identify possible operators that distributed and targeted individuals in sending the text messages, PBGEN DORIA said.

PNP Chief, PGEN RODOLFO S AZURIN JR congratulates the PNP ACG for their relentless effort to investigate and identify possible operators of these alarming personal text messages. He further said that the continuous cooperation of the community will make the citizens be at peace and safer in their homes and online activities.
