On June 25, 2025, at 6:02 PM, in Mayamot, Antipolo City, operatives of the Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit (WCCPU) of the Philippine National Police – Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), conducted an entrapment operation that resulted in the rescue of a 2-year-old girl and the arrest of a 28-year-old man, alias “Eboy,” for allegedly using his daughter to coerce his former wife into meeting with him.
The operation stemmed from the referral of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) regarding an alleged case of Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children—Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material (OSAEC-CSAEM).
According to the CWC, a 28-year-old mother, alias “Arci,” sought their assistance after the suspect who is her former partner took their 2-year-old daughter away from her in Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, and brought in to Antipolo City, without her knowledge. Upon the investigation by the WCCPU, it was revealed that the suspect was using the child to pressure the mother into reconciling with him.
“Eboy” is facing charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code and RA No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004), both in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
The operation supports the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, Chief of the PNP, to take immediate action on the referred complaints to ensure that cybercriminals are held accountable.
Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the operatives for the successful operation. He also stressed to the public, “We call on everyone to stay vigilant and never tolerate any form of coercion or threats. Report such incidents to the nearest ACG office so we can act swiftly and bring offenders to justice.”
