On June 21, 2025, at about 10:20 PM in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija, operatives of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Cyber Response Team (NEPCRT) conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of a 22-year-old man, alias “Randy,” for threatening and harassing a woman he met online using her explicit videos.
The operation stemmed from the report of a 20-year-old woman, alias “Ana,” that the suspect committed a series of abusive and fraudulent acts against her. According to Ana, she met Randy on a dating application. After a few conversations, Randy convinced her to meet in person. During that meeting, he allegedly forced her to enter a hotel, where he coerced her into engaging in sexual activities against her will.
The abuse reportedly continued in subsequent meetings. Randy repeatedly borrowed money from Ana, falsely promising to pay her back. He also persuaded her to apply for a loan through a lending application and hand over the proceeds to him.
When the victim ended their relationship, the suspect showed her an explicit video of herself which was secretly recorded while she was taking a bath, without her knowledge or consent. He threatened to distribute it unless she paid him Php1,000.00 and agreed to engage in sexual activity.
“Randy” is facing charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) and Article 315 (Swindling/Estafa) of the Revised Penal Code, RA No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009), and RA No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004), all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
This operation supports the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, PNP Chief, to ensure that anti-cybercrime laws are fully implemented and violators are promptly penalized.
Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the Nueva Ecija PCRT for the successful operation. He also stated, “Using intimate content to threaten or exploit others is a grave offense. The PNP ACG remains firm in its mission to protect victims and ensure that abusers are held accountable. We urge everyone to speak out, report these crimes, and help break the cycle of online harassment.”
