As part of its ongoing campaign against cybercrime, the Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) conducted 122 police operations nationwide throughout March 2025.

These operations resulted in the arrest of 136 individuals, including 105 apprehended in entrapment operations, 30 arrested through warrants, and one captured in a rescue operation. Additionally, 19 victims were rescued.

The PNP ACG has significantly intensified its efforts in combating cybercrime, making the number of arrests in March 2025 3.7 times higher than in March 2024 with 37 arrests.

The top five laws most commonly violated by these individuals were RA No. 11934 (SIM Registration Act), RA No. 12010 (Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act or AFASA), RA No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act), RA No. 9175 (Chain Saw Act), and Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

In connection with the sale of registered Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) cards, authorities apprehended 30 individuals and seized 782 registered SIM cards, 116 of which were linked to e-wallet accounts.

Moreover, the March 2025 crackdown also highlights the PNP ACG’s heightened efforts to fight the illegal online sale of text-blast machines and signal jammers, wherein 13 individuals were arrested, and 25 devices were confiscated.

The operations align with the directive of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the PNP, to intensify cybercrime investigation and promote a safer digital environment for all. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the PNP ACG personnel for their efficient teamwork and prompt conduct of operations. He stated, “The operations reflects our commitment to safeguarding the public from cybercriminals who exploit technology for illegal activities. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and report suspicious online transactions to the authorities to prevent cyber-enabled crimes.”
