As part of its ongoing campaign against cybercrime, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) conducted a total of 154 police operations nationwide throughout May 2025 that resulted in the arrest of 155 individuals, and rescue of 12 victims.
Of the arrested individuals, 122 were arrested in entrapment operations, and 33 were wanted persons with warrant of arrest.
The top five laws most commonly violated by these individuals were RA No. 12010 (Anti-Financial Account Scamming Act or AFASA of 2024), RA No. 9175 (Chain Saw Act of 2002), RA No. 9484 (Philippine Dental Act of 2007), and Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, all in relation to RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), and Section 4(c)4 (Libel) of RA No.10175.
The PNP ACG highlights the ten entrapment operations nationwide, resulting in the arrest of 12 individuals who were involved in the unauthorized practice of dentistry without the necessary licenses or professional credentials. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the operating units for their efficient teamwork and prompt actions on operations. He stated, “These operations reflect the consistent implementation of anti-cybercrime efforts across the country. The PNP ACG remains focused on strengthening operational capabilities and enhancing coordination to ensure a safer online environment for all.”
