On March 26, 2025, at about 8:15 PM in Iligan City, operatives from the Lanao del Norte Cyber Response Team (LDN CRT) conducted an entrapment operation, leading to the arrest of a 30-year-old male, alias “Gio,” for sharing explicit videos of his ex-girlfriend online.

The operation stemmed from the report of a 23-year-old female victim, identified as “Mary.” According to her, the suspect, her ex-boyfriend, secretly uploaded sexually explicit videos and photos of her on his Facebook “My Story” without her consent or knowledge after their relationship ended. He then demanded a meet-up, threatening to release more explicit content if she refused. During the meeting, the victim was accompanied by LDN CRT operatives, leading to the successful arrest of the suspect.

“Gio” is facing charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, RA No. 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004) and RA No. 9995 (Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009), all in relation to Section 6 of RA 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

The operations were in line with the directive of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the PNP, to intensify cyber patrolling and take prompt legal action, preventing cybercriminals from operating on social media platforms. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), warns the public, stating, “We will not rest until those who exploit and threaten others are brought to justice. Let this be a warning—justice will be served,” he stated.
