In its continued efforts to combat cybercrime across the country, the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) successfully arrested 16 individuals during a series of coordinated operations led by Regional Anti-Cybercrime Units, Provincial Cyber Response Teams, and District Anti-Cybercrime Teams conducted from 8:00 AM of April 23 to 8:00 AM of April 24, 2025.
Among the 16 suspects, four were arrested by virtue of warrants of arrest, while the other twelve were captured during entrapment operations.
The suspects were involved in various offenses. The breakdown is as follows: seven were involved in the illegal online sale of financial accounts; three provided unauthorized dental services; two sold chainsaws without the required permits; two committed online scams; one was involved in sextortion; and another was caught illegally selling livestock poultry online without proper documentation.
The Chief of the PNP, Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, expressed full support for the Group’s initiatives, emphasizing the importance of a proactive and unified approach in addressing the growing challenges of cybercrime. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the dedication of the operating units and urged the public to remain vigilant and cooperative in reporting illegal online activities. “These operations reflect the PNP ACG’s strategic focus on disrupting cybercrime operations and ensuring a safer cyber environment for everyone. We remain steadfast in enhancing our capabilities and urge the public to be active partners in this fight by staying informed and reporting any online threats,” he stated.
