In the ongoing efforts to combat the growing threat of online human trafficking, the Camarines Sur Provincial Cyber Response Team (CamSur PCRT) of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), in coordination with the Department of Justice-Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT), successfully conducted an entrapment operation on March 25, 2025, at about 10:00 PM in Naga City, Camarines Sur, that led to the rescue of six trafficking victims, including one minor, and the arrest of four suspects.

The operation stemmed from proactive cyber patrolling by the CamSur PCRT, which focused on identifying and dismantling sexual exploitation and trafficking activities on social media platforms. During their online investigation, cyber cops discovered multiple posts from a suspected “panderer” or “pimp” indicating illicit trafficking operations in Naga City and the Bicol Region.

The cyber patrollers then engaged with the panderer while posing as potential clients. During these interactions, the suspect offered six victims for trafficking. A meet-up was arranged, leading to the arrest of the panderer and her three cohorts.

The four suspects are facing charges for violations of RA No. 9208, as amended by RA No. 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012), and further amended by RA No. 11862 in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

The operation is in line with the directive of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the PNP, to strengthen cyber patrolling and take immediate legal action to ensure that cybercriminals do not have a place on social media platforms. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the CamSur PCRT for their successful operation. He stated, “This operation underscores our unwavering commitment to eradicating online human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals. The PNP ACG urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help combat trafficking and exploitation.”
