In a continued effort to combat the growing threat of online human trafficking, the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 12 (RACU 12) conducted an entrapment operation on May 6, 2025, at around 10:00 PM in General Santos City, which resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old man, identified as alias “Junie,” and the rescue of four victims, including a 17-year-old girl, who were being trafficked for prostitution.

The operation was the result of the RACU 12’s proactive cyber patrolling, which aims to identify and dismantle online sexual exploitation and trafficking activities. While conducting cyberpatrolling, the operatives discovered the posts by “Junie” offering girls aged 17 to 20 for prostitution.

Posing as potential clients, the operatives engaged the suspect. “Junie” offered four victims for sexual services, which prompted the team to immediately initiate an entrapment operation that led to his arrest.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of RA No. 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act), in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

The operation aligns with the directive of Police General Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, Chief of the PNP, to intensify cyber patrols and pursue immediate legal actions against online offenders to ensure that cybercriminals are held accountable. Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, praised RACU 12 for the successful operation. He stated, “This operation underscores our commitment to eradicating online human trafficking and protecting vulnerable individuals. He also urged the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activities that may help in the fight against trafficking and exploitation.”
