On May 26, 2025, at about 4:30 PM in Pasay City, operatives of the Women and Children Cybercrime Protection Unit (WCCPU) of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), conducted an entrapment operation that led to the arrest of an 18-year-old man, alias “Robert,” for threatening and harassing his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend using explicit photos.

The operation was initiated following a complaint filed by the mother of a minor victim, who reported receiving messages from Facebook accounts owned by the victim’s former boyfriend. These messages contained explicit photos of the victim. According to the complaint, the suspect threatened to circulate the images unless the victim agreed to meet and reconcile with him.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect had illegally accessed the victim’s email account and used it to distribute the photos to her relatives and friends. It was also discovered that he had secretly installed a tracking application on the victim’s mobile phone to monitor her activities without her knowledge or consent.

“Robert” is facing charges for violation of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code, RA No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act of 1992), RA No. 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004), all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012), Section 4(a)1 (Illegal Access) of RA No. 10175, and Section 4(r) of RA No. 11930 (Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children or OSAEC and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials or CSAEM Act of 2022).

Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP ACG, commended the WCCPU for the successful operation. He also stated, “The PNP ACG is dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for online abuse are held accountable. We encourage the public to report such crimes and cooperate with us to protect individuals from such acts.”
