On July 27, 2025, at about 12:35 PM in Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro, operatives of the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 4B (RACU 4B) conducted an entrapment operation that resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old man, alias “Pancho,” for threatening and harassing his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend using explicit videos.
The operation stemmed from a complaint of 17-year-old girl against the suspect for harassing and abusing her. Allegedly, they developed an online relationship, and after some time they decided to meet in person, during which they engaged in sexual activity. Unknown to her, he secretly recorded their sexual deed.
After their breakup, the suspect allegedly began threatening to expose the explicit recordings unless the victim complied with his demands. This prompted the victim to seek the assistance of the authorities.
“Pancho” is facing charges for violations of Article 286 (Grave Coercion) of the Revised Penal Code as amended by RA No. 10951 and RA No. 11930 (Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children or OSAEC and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials or CSAEM Act of 2022), both in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
The operation was in line with the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, Chief of the PNP, to take immediate legal action to ensure that cybercriminals do not have a place on social media platforms.
Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group, commended the operatives for the successful operation. He also stated, “The PNP ACG is dedicated to ensuring that those responsible for online abuse are held accountable. We encourage the public to report such crimes and cooperate with us to protect individuals from such acts.”
