On July 25, 2025, the Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit 10 (RACU 10) successfully conducted back-to-back operations in Initao and Naawan, Misamis Oriental, targeting online child sexual abuse, exploitation, and human trafficking, which resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old woman, alias “Kurdapya,” and the rescue of ten victims, including six minors, who were allegedly trafficked and exploited online.

The operations stemmed from a tip-off from a foreign counterpart agency regarding a minor reportedly being trafficked in the Philippines for online sexual exploitation and in-person abuse by foreign clients. Upon receiving the report, RACU 10 immediately launched an intelligence operation to validate the information. Investigations confirmed that the suspect was actively involved in trafficking activities and primarily catered to foreign customers.

The suspect allegedly used various social media platforms to connect with potential clients. For clients based in the country, she would arrange in-person trafficking and offer the use of a private bedroom in her rented house. For clients based abroad, she would facilitate a live-streamed sexual abuse, forcing the victims to perform nude cam shows.

Among the ten rescued victims, six were minors aged from 12 to 17. The remaining four victims, now ages 18 to 24, were reportedly first trafficked by the suspect when they were still minors. The victims were chosen and exploited based on the client’s age preferences, with the prices ranging from Php1,500.00 to Php2,000.00.

The said operations were carried out through a combined implementation of Warrants to Search, Seize, and Examine Computer Data and entrapment operation, which were done in close collaboration with Department of Social Welfare and Development 10, Department of Justice – Regional Anti-Child Exploitation and Trafficking Task Force 10, Initao Municipal Police Station, Naawan Municipal Police Station, Naawan Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company, and Regional Drug Enforcement Unit/Regional Special Operations Unit.

“Kurdapya” is facing charges for violations of RA No. 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act), RA No. 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003) as amended by RA No. 10364 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012), further amended by RA No. 11862 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2022) and RA No. 11930 (Anti-Online Sexual Abuse or Exploitation of Children or OSAEC and Anti-Child Sexual Abuse or Exploitation Materials or CSAEM Act of 2022), all in relation to Section 6 of RA No. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).

These operations support the directive of Police General Nicolas D. Torre III, Chief of the PNP, to create a safer cyber environment for children and pursue cybercriminals.

Police Brigadier General Bernard R. Yang, Acting Director of the PNP Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG), praised the operatives for their dedication in acting on the tip, leading to the arrest of the suspect and rescue of the minors. “The tireless efforts of RACU 10 reflect ACG’s commitment to combating cybercrime and ensuring that cybercriminals have no place in cyberspace,” he said.
